What's this Whole Project for, Anyway?
According to Anorexia Nervosa and Related Eating Disorders, Inc. more than half of teenaged girls are, or think they should be, on diets. About three percent of these teens go too far, becoming anorexic or bulimic.
Those numbers don't include the vast numbers of people with subclinical disordered eating behaviors: those whose eating and weight control patterns are far from normal, but who do not meet the guidelines for a formal diagnosis. As a society, we are just too busy trying to conform to all those impossible ideals around us to really discover who we are, and what really matters to us as individuals.
Luckily, there is help to be found. I believe that there is strength in numbers, and I believe that no one can help us rediscover our own feelings about ourselves better than others who are already going through the exact same things that we are. I've learned a lot of things throughout my own recovery from disordered eating, both from my own experiences and from some of the incredibly insightful people I've connected with over the past couple of years.
I want to share that knowledge with you.
This book will address all of those little questions or problems you might have about developing a healthier lifestyle, feeling better about yourself, and accomplishing your dreams.
And it is my hope that this book might just become that one extra tool we all need in our own personal journeys towards health and true self-acceptance.
